Agriculture and food security

Food security is a basic human right but is severely threatened by the high cost of living, protracted conflicts, herder-farmer clashes, increasing populations, climate change and insufficient funding for farmers.

With the right measures and solutions and through the prioritization of agricultural development initiatives, food security can be achieved even for developing countries like Nigeria, and this will bring about economic stability, long-term health, reduced vulnerability to diseases etc.

Our intervention

YARDI promotes initiatives for climate-smart agriculture, flexible and efficient market systems, peacebuilding initiatives especially between farmers and herders, and access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets the dietary needs and preferences of people especially the most vulnerable and the poor in society. We support the development and promotion of programs and initiatives that support and sustain increased food production, efficient and safe storage of food products, and availability of healthy food and nutrition for both the poor and the rich. We sensitize and enhance the capacity of stakeholders for sustainable food security, advocating for improved and favourable government policies for food security.
